DeSoto Presbyterian Church provides a meaningful Christian Education experience for every age.
Our Christian Education committee is responsible for choosing the format, curriculum and teachers for each of our Sunday School classes.
In addition, we organize special events for our children including a Christmas Program, Pentecost celebrations, an Easter Egg Hunt and Summer Music Camp.
The CE Committee serves our young adults by directing the mentor program for those youths who would like to be confirmed in the Presbyterian Church.
We also help and encourage the youth to participate in service projects at area nursing homes, and to attend area youth events and summer camps.
BIBLE STUDY & CURRICULUM CLASS
Adults study the lessons scheduled for the children in Spirit Trek several months ahead of time to determine what they want our children to learn from the selected Bible stories.
SUNDAY SCHOOL - YOUTH
Our children's Sunday School classes use a lectionary based curriculum that is reinforced by the Bible lessons discussed in the church service.
The teens use a wide variety of Bible study materials, and are always encouraged to live what they learn. They are given many opportunities to participate in the worship service and the life of the church. They also participate in a mentor program that leads them to become adult members of the church.
SUNDAY SCHOOL - ADULT
The adult Sunday School class varies its study topics according to the interests of those who attend. The thoughts and opinions of all members are valued and appreciated, and help each of us find a deeper understanding of our own faith.
ADULT ODYSSEY CLASS
This dedicated and lively group uses a 20-25 minute video as a basis for insightful discussion led by volunteer members of the class. They have finished a series on "The Life of Jesus" and one on "The Life of Paul". They have also studies a series on angels. As each series nears completions, the class chooses the next topic and leader. |
